The Return of Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern
I’m sure you all remember how fond we are of Andrew Zimmern here at www.tvchannelsfree.com. We were pretty excited when the Travel Channel announced the “new and improved” version of Andrew Zimmern’s blockbuster show Bizarre Foods called Bizarre Worlds back in the late summer of 2009. However, after watching the show it became apparent that the real venue for Andrew Zimmern’s strengths as a travel host was Bizarre Foods, which featured Zimmern going to a different (mostly exotic) locale every week and eating the weirdest stuff anyone could possibly think of. Bizarre Foods ended up doing about 47 episodes, which featured Zimmern going to 28 different countries as well as 14 different states in the U.S.
We are very happy to announce to all of you fans out there that the folks at the Travel Channel have opted to allow Andrew Zimmern to return to his roots by bringing back Bizarre Foods starting on Monday, April 26th. Many of you more astute readers (and watchers) will notice that Zimmern is now on Monday nights instead of Tuesday nights. This is the time slot usually held by the Travel Channel’s other most favorite host, No Reservations’ Anthony Bourdain. I wonder if there is some bad blood in the Travel Channel’s production offices between the Bourdain camp and the Zimmern camp over this bit of new scheduling.
Well, on to the episodes guide. Here is what the Travel Channel’s official Andrew Zimmern website has to say about this exciting new season of Bizarre Foods.
1. Mongolia
Andrew visits Mongolia, where people live off the harsh, yet spectacular land the same way their ancestors did in the days of Genghis Kahn. Watch as he samples food from an animal carcass oven.
2. Cambodia
Andrew visits Cambodia, a developing nation where the food traditions once based out of necessity are now a source of national pride. Tarantulas, bats, fertilized duck eggs and rotted fish are common cuisine.
3. Arizona
Andrew uncovers unique food traditions where the spirit of the Wild West still lives strong today. From native traditions of the Navajo to the New Agers’ approach to food, this state offers an abundance of bizarre foods.
4. Tokyo
Andrew returns to the trend-setting city of Tokyo for more unforgettable adventures in food. This time he tastes a cow udder, a 20-lb. tuna head and wasabi octopus balls made to light his mouth on fire.
5. Bangkok
Andrew travels to Bangkok, one of the best eating destinations in the world. He revels in the diversity of flavors and ancient cooking techniques from all over Southeast Asia that are fused together in this one city.
There will also be upcoming episodes that will put Andrew Zimmern in Buenos Aires, Argentina; Baja, Mexico; Thailand; and even something called the Kids’ Special which sounds pretty scary if you ask me.
We hope you tune into the brand new season of Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern starting on Monday, April 26th. You can watch it on TV or watch it here online for free.
And don’t forget to check back here every day for our little TV blog. Until tomorrow, keep watching and keep coming back to www.tvchannelsfree.com to watch episodes of all your favorite TV shows for free!
