MADVENTURES: Schedule and Episodes Guide

Another week, another new Travel Channel TV show for you to watch and for us here at www.tvchannelsfree.com to review. This week’s new show is called Madventures and was originally a Finnish travel documentary series that focuses on the most taboo practices found in the most off-the-beaten-path destinations on earth. Originally the show premiered in Finland on the channel Subtv, nowadays Sub, on October 13, 2002. Internationally, Madventures is distributed by the Target Entertainment Group. Americans and others outside of Finland got to watch the first episode of Madventures on the Travel Channel on September 21, 2009.

The cult hit show concentrates on global backpacking adventures instead of more touristic adventures. As with most Travel Channel shows, Madventures has gained most of it’s popularity by taking a pretty generic format and introducing some great hosts that make people want to watch the show because they want to watch the hosts.

And speaking of these new crazy hosts, Madventures is presented each week by Riku Rantala and Tuomas “Tunna” Milonoff, who also serves as the show’s director and cameraman.

According to the Madventures official website:

“Madventures is on a quest to explore the most insane destinations in the world!

Riku and Tunna are two fearless Finns who cross the globe carrying nothing but backpacks and cameras from the Himalayas to the African deserts, from Tokyo to Polynesia.

Riku and Tunna’s adventures include meeting the world’s last cannibals in Papua, uncovering the illegal bazooka business in Cambodia and doing rock-paper-scissors to see who has to eat monkey brains straight from the skull in the Amazon. Don’t miss your exclusive trip to the edge of insanity. Watch Madventures, starting Monday, September 21, at 10 E/P.”

Here’s the official Madventures schedule and episode guide for this coming season. However, we are only covering the episodes that have been aired to date because we want you to watch TV shows and let’s face it, you can’t watch a TV show that hasn’t been aired yet, right?

-BRAZIL (9/21/2009, 10pm)

Riku and Tunna travel from the urban jungles of Rio’s favelas to the rainforests of the Amazon basin in the footsteps of William Burroughs and Allen Ginsberg, searching for the deepest swamps and quagmires of the sub-consciousness.

-SOUTHEAST ASIA (9/21/2009, 10:30pm)

Riku and Tunna travel through Southeast Asia in search of freedom. Our mad men take on the ruthless military junta of Myanmar, drink cobra’s blood and shoot bazookas in Cambodia

-JAPAN (9/28/2009, 10pm)

Madventures heads to Japan to explore the collision of the ultramodern and the traditional. Riku and Tunna have fun with Japanese robots and are forced to spend the night in a strange hotel. They also witness the making of an ancient Japanese sword.

-RUSSIA/UKRAINE (9/28/2009, 10:30pm)

This is a journey beyond the rusted iron curtain and into the radioactive zone! The longest, most mythical railway on Earth takes Madventures to the man who seems to have reached immortality. The mad duo also discovers the weirdest sport on the planet!

-PHILIPPINES (10/5/2009, 10pm)
