CAST CONFESSIONS: Behind the Scenes of Iconic TV Shows

As you all know from reading our little TV blog here, www.tvchannelsfree.com has a soft spot for the bio. Channel…yes, its schedule is often jammed with corny hour-long video puff pieces about everyone from sappy singers like Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand to political icons such as Barack Obama and Ronald Reagan.

They also step into the dark side occasionally (with shows such as Notorious, Mobsters, and American Gangster) applying much the same formula of hour-long documentary-style biographies only without the puff.

These are bio. Channel’s shows about serial killers like Jeffrey Dahmer and that psycho mother who drowned her kids in a lake (as in Notorious); famous organized crime figures (mostly of the Jewish and Italian variety, with your occasional Irishman thrown in there) such as Vito Genovese, James “Whitey” Bulger, and Meyer Lansky who ran a nationwide crime syndicate covering everything from illegal gambling, prostitution, murder for hire, extortion, labor racketeering, and smuggling for almost half a century (as in Mobsters); and the more recent crop of drug kingpins from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s who made millions profiting from the heroin, cocaine, and crack epidemics of those 3 decades respectively. These are bio. Channel’s shows about people like Frank Lucas, Leroy “Nicky” Barnes, and Felix “the Cat” Mitchell (as in American Gangster).

It never ceases to amaze us here at www.tvchannelsfree.com that this channel has managed to take the same formula and tweak it ever so slightly to produce show after show that (for reasons we cannot begin to comprehend or quantify) we love to watch.

This week, bio. Channel has managed to do the same by introducing us to one of their newest shows, Cast Confessions. This show plans to take us behind the scenes of some of the most iconic TV shows of the last 20 years. The first episode is about the iconic 1980s TV show, The Facts of Life, which started life as a spin off of NBC’s wildly popular TV show Diff’rent Strokes based around the show’s unforgettable housekeeper Mrs. Garret, played by Charlotte Rae.

According to the Biography Channel’s official description of Cast Confessions: The Facts of Life,

This special takes you behind the scenes to reveal everything you never knew about one of our favorite sitcoms. Revisit this classic comedy as back-stage secrets and hidden drama are revealed through exclusive footage and interviews with original cast members, writers and network executives.”

I’ll be the first to admit, that’s a pretty lame summary on their part but I have watched this TV show and I actually quite liked it. I would even say I recommend you all watch it. I also remember watching The Facts of Life growing up so the nostalgia factor is always a good card to play for these network types (since they obviously have nothing original to show us just yet). Give it a watch, especially all you late 1970s and early 1980s babies out there.

And don’t forget to check back here every day for our little TV blog. Until tomorrow, keep watching and keep coming back to www.tvchannelsfree.com to watch episodes of all your favorite TV shows for free.
